Shane Browne ( B.Comm, F.C.A, A.M) Partner

Shane Browne qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Shane specialises in Forensic Accounting & Litigation Support and manages the forensics team at Browne Murphy & Hughes.  Shane has extensive experience working with clients, solicitors and barristers in a wide range of matters to include commercial litigation, dispute resolution, marital separation/divorce, financial investigations and fraud.

Shane is an accredited mediator and is a member of the MFI (Mediation Forum Ireland) – Panel of ADR specialists and Mediators. Shane is a strong advocate of Mediation, which is both an interest-based and cost efficient Alternative Dispute Resolution.

In addition to this Shane also deals with a number of personal tax, professional and corporate clients.  Shane’s personal approach and wealth of accounting experience providing business advice and consultancy services offers clients an exceptional service.

Jon Byrne (F.C.C.A) Managing Partner

Jon Byrne joined Browne & Murphy in 1989.  Jon qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1990 and became a partner in 1994.  In 2009 Jon was appointed managing partner.

Jon has over 20 years’ experience in providing auditing, accounting and taxation services to a wide range of businesses and heads up the audit and accountancy department of Browne Murphy & Hughes.

Jon also provides forensic accounting services for commercial disputes and loss of earnings cases.  In recent times Jon has been appointed liquidator to a number of companies and has assisted companies in corporate recovery and restructure.

Specialist Areas:

Rachel Chambers (M.B.S (Acc), A.C.A, A.I.T.I) Head of Taxation

Rachel Chambers is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the Irish Tax Institute. Rachel qualified in 2004 and trained with Deloitte before joining Browne Murphy & Hughes in 2008.

Rachel heads up the tax department and advises a wide range of clients on Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, VAT and Capital Acquisition tax.

Specialist Areas:

Carol Davey (F.C.C.A.) Partner

Carol Davey qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1992 and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She became a partner in 2015.

Carol has over twenty years’ experience in the auditing and accounting fields in addition to taxation of both corporate and personal clients. She is responsible for the audit compliance area of the practice. Her client base includes charities, the not for profit sector, credit unions and other regulated entities. She has experience of due diligence assignments, company reconstructions and is also responsible for our international clients.

Tim Hughes (B.Comm, F.C.A, A.I,T.I) Partner

Tim qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1973 and has been a partner in private practice since qualifying with over 35 years of experience in dealing with SME’s and family run Businesses.

Tim joined Browne Murphy & Hughes in 2009 bringing with him considerable experience in auditing and accountancy services, taxation services, business advisory services, and insolvency and restructuring.

Jacqueline McShane (M.B.S (Acc), A.C.A, A.I.T.I) Partner

Jacqueline McShane is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Taxation of Ireland.

Jacqueline qualified in 2000 and trained with Price Waterhouse Coopers before joining Browne Murphy and Hughes in 2002.  In 2008 she was appointed as a partner.

Working in the Forensic Accounting & Litigation Support Department Jacqueline specializes in family law and is committed to providing top quality service to her clients.

Jim Murphy (B.Comm, F.C.A, A.I.T.I, Q.F.A, F.L.I.A) Consultant

Jim Murphy has worked in practice since 1984 having previously spent some years in industry.

Having qualifications as a Chartered Accountant, a member of the Institute of Tax Ireland and a Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA) Jim is a multi-disciplined business adviser who can assist clients in all their business concerns.

Jim provides practical advice and solutions to a wide range of clients in the area of business and personal financial planning.

Frank Walsh (B.A (Acc), F.C.C.A., Cert PIP) Partner

Frank Walsh joined the practice in 2002 and qualified as a Certified Accountant in 2006. Having spent some time at KPMG, he returned to the practice and was appointed partner in 2015.

He provides audit & forensic accounting services and is highly experienced in commercial litigation, having undertaken numerous projects in the area.

He advises on liquidations & corporate recovery and is authorised by the Insolvency Service of Ireland to carry on practice as a Personal Insolvency Practitioner.
